holy trinity church

Dear Friends,
Many of you, like me, will have had or have pets. In my case Zoomy the beagle is a very companionable and very chatty friend. She can, as some of you know, be quite loud, and she is certainly not shy about making her opinions felt. The trouble is that there is communication problem. I have learned to understand some of what she says, but I know she often thinks I am stupid because I cannot understand dog, so don’t always get the message. And I am pretty sure that she is highly intelligent because I think she does understand English but often chooses to ignore the message!
But have you ever thought that we, who are the church, the body of Christ also have a sort of ‘in house’ language that people outside the church have difficulty in understanding. What is obvious to us is not always obvious to those who are not part of our fellowship. This means that there is a real difficulty in communicating all that we want to say.
It has often been wisely said that ‘actions speak louder than words’. This means that if we want to tell people that they are loved and valued by God we need to show this by the way in which we treat them. If we want to show them that Jesus is their friend, we have to do so by being a friend in his name and thus reflecting and demonstrating his friendship. As disciples of Christ, we have a great message of love and friendship to share. However, it is in the way that we communicate it that our message will be readily understood.
With love and blessings,
Marion
