Dear Friends,
Some of you may remember, during the COVID Lockdowns, when we could not meet in person, that we began sending out a weekly worship service by email, together with a pastoral letter. These mailings still continue. They are available to anyone who would like to join our mailing list. (Please email holytrinitystandrew@gmail.com) The weekly pastoral letter that came with the service, was originally intended to be an encouragement in difficult times and was not envisaged as a permanent feature. However, it seems to have become one.
Communication though, is vitally important, and as I write I have received several phone calls and emails about various forms of communication, some of which we use, some of which we don’t, but perhaps should. They are a reminder that everyone should be kept well informed as far as is possible. Now that we livestream our services, anyone can join us for worship at any time and in any place provided they have the right equipment. But communication is a two-way interaction. We can send out as much information in as many ways as we like, but it no one reads it or watches it or listens to it, it will be a wasted effort.
Communication with our God is also a two-way interaction, but the only equipment we need for that is to be willing! Worshipping together, praying together, praying individually, talking with others about our faith, nurturing a living relationship with Jesus Christ as we get to know him through the gospels are what are needed. God in Christ is always ready to listen and interact with us in every situation. But it is up to every individual to be ready and willing. Only then will the communication be completely effective.
With love and blessings,
Marion
