Dear friends,

Two Christian colleagues were travelling together on a very long journey. They made great travelling companions, for as one of them remarked, ‘We discussed everything you could think of. We agreed on the great things, but we did not always agree on everything. It was a good arrangement because while we agreed enough to be congenial, we differed enough to make it interesting!’

In any group of people there are likely to be differing opinions. After all, every human being is unique and therefore has their own personal view of life. What is more, no one can be absolutely sure just what makes another tick. The same would apply to any Christian fellowship. Christian friendship is a sacred connection rooted and grounded in a shared faith, mutual spiritual growth, and Christ-like love. But we may have different opinions about how that love can be expressed.

Today we are celebrating Harvest Thanksgiving, giving thanks to God for his love and goodness to us, and expressing that thankfulness by sharing our plenty with love as we are able. Of course, we have our traditions about how we celebrate and give thanks for the harvest. However, today we are delighted to welcome our friend Rev Fiona Smith to our pulpit, and we look forward to having new light shed on our traditional harvest themes.

With love and blessings,

Marion
