Dear Friends,
Today is a special day that has become something of a tradition in Boarhills, Dunino and St Andrews Holy Trinity church. It is ‘Give Church a Go’ Sunday, when we invite everyone who worships with us regularly to bring a family member or friends, or someone who is simply new to our community, and who does not worship regularly to come and join us for our Sunday service. So, we welcome everyone to our worship.
This is why you have an extra Order of Service today. It explains in brief, why we do what we do, and the order in which we do it. I am well aware that attending worship can be a bit intimidating if you are not used to it, and we do want everyone to feel comfortable with us.
It is also good for me, and for everyone who does attend worship regularly, to think through why we do what we do. After all, something we do regularly can become a habit, and as my mother would have said, begin to sound a bit like a ‘yard of pump water!’ But worship should be far from that, for what we offer to God in worship should be the best that we can give as we pray for his blessing and his divine inspiration for our lives. We are here to give God his worth, to learn more about his love for his people in his gift of Jesus his son. And we should go from here to reflect that love in the daily activities of our lives.
