Dear Friends,
Technology! I know that modern technology has many positive uses, and I certainly couldn’t manage without the technological advances in communication that have taken place in the last few decades. But it does have its drawbacks too. When I was coming back from Portugal the airline assumed that I would have a digital boarding pass and were not prepared to let me board the plane without one! This despite the fact that the travel agent here had assured me that she had done everything necessary and that there would be no problem. It took quite an argument to get through the gate, and on to the flight.
Then there are the problems that occur when the computer makes a mistake! Of course, we all know that it is not the computer but the operator. But the operator is usually not prepared to admit to that. And when the WiFi is intermittent, as it often is, nothing works properly. And when there is a power cut, no one can even do their shopping because the tills don’t work. I could go on, but you all know what I mean. Modern technology is a very good servant, but a terrible master.
Fortunately, life is not like that, for we have a wonderful Master who never fails us. Our God, in the person of Jesus Christ, and through the Power of the Holy Spirit, has promised that he will never leave us, that there will never be a power cut, that his love will never be intermittent, and that if we rely on him, he will never let us down. Thanks be to God.
With love and blessings,
Marion
