Dear Friends,
I guess at least some of you will remember the old advert that said ‘Do you love someone enough to give them your last Rolo? Of course, the implication was that Rolo was so delicious that you wouldn’t want to give the last one away. But actually, there was a more serious message there, a message about the value of sharing.
Today Alastair and I are sharing in worship, something we both enjoy doing. And we shall be sharing in worship again on the first Sunday in September. Whilst we have probably both spent a lot of our ministerial lives conducting worship ourselves, it is always good to share.
But have you ever thought that we all, as a congregation of God’s people, actually come here to share in worship? Worship is not something that is done to you, or for you. It is the corporate activity of giving God in Christ his worth. That is why it is so important that we all actively engage with singing the hymns, with the prayers that are offered, with the reading of the word of God and the preaching of the word and the sharing of theological and practical insights. What is more, it is our calling as God’s people, to continue to share in word and action, the inspiration that comes to us through our sharing in worship, every day of the week.
