Dear Friends,
When I returned from church last Sunday, I found a large pot on my doorstep filled with bulbs about to burst into flower and a card in my letterbox. What a lovely gift. The first paragraph on the card read, ‘Every year I plant a pot of bulbs in the winter and look forward to spring, and I pray that everyone who passes by will somehow, by God’s will, be brought closer to him when they see the beauty and colour of his creation’. I hope that the pot of spring flowers on my doorstep will do just that!
The week that has just passed must have been a dark time for Jesus, for he must have known what was to happen to him, and the suffering he would have to face. But he must also have known that all that had happened was not to be the end of his story. He must have known that what was to come, his defeat of sin and death, his glorious resurrection and his resurrected life, would change the world for ever and that all of this would make it into a much brighter place.
As we celebrate the beauty and wonder of the resurrection of Jesus Christ today, our world has become a much more colourful and brighter place because we know that Jesus is alive. He himself said, ‘I, when I am lifted up from earth will draw all people to myself’. Now the cross is empty. Christ is alive. And everywhere we look there are lovely colourful spring flowers to remind us of his new life amongst us. So let us give thanks and worship him.
A very Happy Easter to you all.
With love and blessings,
Marion
