Dear Friends,
Our last Friday service saw 30+ people celebrating the holiday season, listening to Cliff Richard singing ‘Summer Holiday’ and eating 99s provided by Ron and Marion and charmingly served by Janie and Granger’s granddaughters. You just never know what we might get up to at a Friday service – they are a bit different from a formal Sunday service, but no less valid and genuine for all that. And everyone is always very welcome.
Worship can come in many forms, and as I am constantly being reminded, one can worship God on the golf course as well as in the church. But one of the great advantages of being in the church is that we are all together, supporting and encouraging each other, and that is important.
Being together for prayer and Bible study is also important and I know there are quite a few people in our congregation who would like to see more corporate prayer and Bible study. We know that God in Christ is always with us through his Spirit, but being with like-minded people in the presence of God makes it easier to appreciate this.
And now that we are into the holiday season, can I encourage all of you who are going away, either in the UK or abroad, to go and worship in the local church wherever you are. You may not understand the language, but it is amazing how inspiring worship can be, even if you don’t understand all that is being said.
There will be no Intimation Sheet next Sunday as Helen is on holiday, although there will be an Order of Service for everyone. And if you are planning a break, may I wish you a happy and relaxing time wherever you go.
With love and blessings,
Marion
