Dear Friends,
When was the last time you saw people queuing to get into church? Certainly, I have never seen such a thing in Holy Trinity on a Sunday morning, apart from on Remembrance Sunday and the Golf Service. But last Sunday we were late in starting our service in Holy Trinity because of the queue at the door. It was a wonderful sight.
And a well filled church was also a wonderful sight to behold on Easter Sunday morning as we celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. So many people coming to share in the miracle of the Resurrection that is at the heart of our faith. Between our two places of worship, last Sunday we welcomed well over three hundred people.
But the fact is that every Sunday is a celebration of the Resurrection. Every Sunday is an occasion to worship God through the Risen Christ. Every Sunday is an opportunity to give thanks for the creative and saving love of God in Christ. So that means that every Sunday we should see queues at the church door and happy smiling faces as people arrive, and even more importantly, happy smiling faces as they leave an act of worship.
We, the living stones of our churches, should be the best possible advertisements for the joy, and the hope that is ours through the Risen Christ. And our reflection of his love for the world should be the encouragement that brings others into our fellowship. So, there is our challenge – three hundred plus people every Sunday would certainly secure our future. And it is up to each and every one of us, in the strength that God gives us, to make it happen.
With love and blessings,
Marion
